Vintage Design
This is a beautifully made Edwardian fire screen most likely made in Britain although it could be a Chinese import, made for the European market. the frame has been carved with a European flower motif and the screen is hand painted, possible using gesso or plaster to make a 3D effect with the pictures. On the reverse, it is lacquered with delicate flower motifs.
The screen folds neatly into four panels making it easy to store away when not in use. The side frames extend above giving easy grip for folding.
the screen stands 88.5cm high in total but the height of the painted panels is 88cm. the total width of the screen is 110cm and it is 2cm thick.
It is difficult to determine the wood it is made from as it has been stained dark, but is likely to be a dark oak.
