Large Antique English Silver Oak Chest

Thomas de Grey, the second Earl de Grey (1781 – 1859) was a Tory politician in 19th century Britain. His daughter Ann de Grey married George Cowper (the 6th Earl Cowper) whose son Henry Cowper (1836 – 1887) entered parliament for the Liberal party. Not to be confused with the Earl Grey title of nobility, the 2nd Earl Grey – Charles – was a Whig prime minister during the reign of William IV (in office 1830-1834).
