This 19th Century Napoleon III Style Adjustable Curule Stool or Bench was crafted by French artisans in the late 1800’s. The piece features a newly upholstered top resting on a hand carved X form or half moon base supported by turned stretchers and adorned with round capitals. Two carved wood knobs on each side of the stool are connected to an iron mechanism on the the underside to adjust the height when turned. A classical Roman design, Curle is a gracefully shaped bench.
