1920s French Art Deco Gilded Bronze Chandelier With Floral Motifs, Pressed Glass Shades

Unique French Art Deco chandelier. Early 1920s model with distinctive Art Deco floral motifs in the bronze and complemented by the glass design. Very heavy thick bronze weighs 10kg (22 lbs). Vintage antique original France 1920s.

Six frosted white glass shades. Rare model never signed with a shape slightly larger than the norm. Each has and lovely flowers with a large centre and 6 wide petals in perfect harmony with the details cast in the bronze fixture. No chips or cracks.

Impressive gilded bronze and brass fixture. The ceiling cup and central cone have beautiful floral motifs cast in the bronze typical of early 1920s design in France. These pieces are thick, heavy and ring like church bells on Sunday when clanged together. The design and assembly of the fixture is also early 1920s; there are no welds, the rods in the column and the 6 shade branches are all screwed individually into the bronze. This was so labour intensive and the screws could damage the wiring that fixtures were later redesigned to be easier to assemble and wire. Fixture weighs 7kg (15 lbs).
