1950s Greta Magnusson-Grossman Walnut Dining Chairs, Set of 4

Set of four c. 1952 leather and walnut dining chairs by Swedish-Californian designer Greta Magnusson Grossman for Glenn of California. This model of chair (model no. 6260) was featured in the 1952 “Good Design” exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art. These have been recently recovered in a camel-colored leather with nailhead accents on the back of the head rests. The upholstery is in very good shape; while there is a small spot on one of the chairs where some oil or varnish appears to have dripped (pictured), the leather is in fantastic shape with no punctures, tears, or visible scratches.

While these chairs are overall in excellent vintage condition, several of the plugs that cover the wood screws have fallen out over the years (pictured). The chairs are structurally sound without the plugs, but we recommend professional replacement to bring these chairs back to life. One chair has a wobbly support that needs to be glued — again, while this is a minor fix, we recommend professional restoration to maintain the integrity of these rare midcentury chairs.

Sturdy, comfortable, and gorgeous, these chairs are the perfect addition to any design lover’s collection.
